In Berene’s words: "When I close my eyes and think about pencils I imagine the scent of freshly sharpened lead and wood shavings, the shiny smoothness of the painted hexagonal shafts interrupted by gold foil-embossed letters, the curious line the lead creates as it reveals the texture of the paper below, and the magic of the eraser allowing for a fresh start. What’s not to love about pencils?! They are one of the first tools that we learn to create with as kids, capturing sweet memories of our first days at school. This quilt celebrates these wonderful inventions and all that we have imagined on paper with them.”
