The Nesting Phoenix quilt, designed by Cristina De Miranda of Ships & Violins, is the fifth star in her Constellations Series. It is an intermediate foundation paper piecing pattern. This quilt kit makes (1) baby quilt measuring 36" x 42".
In Cristina's words: "The tall and short peaks of the star's perimeter are similar to the formation of the Phoenix Constellation, like a beak between two tucked wings. The octagonal shape of the star and the various overlapping elements remind me of twigs woven into a nest for our mythical phoenix to rest. And, upon closer inspection, the rising phoenix within."

- Nesting Phoenix paper pattern, including illustrated foundation paper piecing instruction, illustrated assembly instructions, a colouring page to help visualize your project, tips on how to conserve fabric. Cutting instructions not included. This project will require the large template set.
- Background fabric in Free Spirit Solid: Shell
- Star fabrics in Sugar by Sarah Watts: Cactus, Berry, Denim, Saddle, and Bluebell (as shown in the sample).
Depending on how efficiently you cut your fabrics, you may be able to create a binding for the quilt from your remnants.
