I had a great experience dying with PFD fabrics from Robert Kaufman. As a crafty experiment, while dying a bunch of things this summer (cotton fabric, garments, basically anything lying around that wasn't precious), we dyed a square of PFD Essex cotton/linen blend in every colour vat we created. Every time, compared to the other things we were dying, the PFD fabric absorbed more colour, faded less in washing and was successful achieving the new shade. So, we have brought in a variety of fabrics that have been "prepared for dying".
According to the manufacturer - “Prepared For Dying” (PFD)
The treatment happens in the preparation for the fabric to be ready for dying or printing.
These steps include singeing, desizing, scouring & bleaching.
The above steps prepares the fabric to easily and uniformly take the dyes.
Spark - Get exactly what you're looking for, or have a fun time playing with natural dyes, different dying techniques, shibori, tie dye, dip dying, etc. Then cut and sew as you would any other fabric.
Please note that all fabric is sold in 1/2 yard increments. If you want 1 yard, please order a quantity of 2. If you want 2 yards, you will need to order a quantity of 4.
|1 = 1/2 yard||2 = 1 yard||3 = 1 1/2 yards||4 = 2 yards|
