Motif Mati Handwoven Cotton - Blue Chambray with Green Selvedge

We are so excited to introduce a new line of fabrics at Fabric Spark, introducing Motif. This company is a source of ethically hand-made textiles in Bangladesh. The fibre content is either recycled or from natural sources and the wovens are all hand loomed by local artisans. Mati in Bangla means Earth or Soil, the source of every eco-friendly fibre in this range of regional weaves and traditional needle skills. 

This denim style lightweight cotton is handwoven with its own unique green selvedge! 

Note - because this is hand woven, there will be the odd irregularity (kind of like my garment sewing) If you need perfection, you may want mechanically milled yardage. 

Spark - Use the pretty bottle green selvedge for a detail along seams, hems, or as ties or drawstrings. The chambray effect of the fabric has a nice casual feel so think about weekend wear, layering pieces, and pretty new tops.

Please note that all fabric is sold in 1/2 yard increments. If you want 1 yard, please order a quantity of 2. If you want 2 yards, you will need to order a quantity of 4.

Width -  45″ / 114cm    Shrinkage 5% approx.
Content -  100% cotton
Weight - 3.8oz / 130gsm approx. Lightweight.
Care - Dry clean to retain finish. Cool gentle cycle or hand wash and iron while damp or cool machine / air dry for a more casual look.
