In our Capsule Wardrobe Series, we've carefully selected patterns that will be achievable for a new garment sewist, and will provide a lot of future versatility once you know how to make these clothes. The Capsule Wardrobe can be customized and personalized with your fabric choice and colour palette. Take one or all of them, and start transforming your closet with great garments made by you!

Details - Chubby Tote in Medium by Sotak Handmade

This boxy and super practical tote is perfect as a book bag, or work bag to hold your lunch, shoes, a book and a sweater. Our version has the original handles, but feel free to go longer so it can hang off your shoulder. You'll note in our sample, we used a wide wale corduroy for our tote. It's wonderful to use a variety of fabric weights and matching or contrasting colours.

Difficulty: Beginner (you know how to use a sewing machine, but are still learning how to sew). 

Pre-Requisites:  Our Learn To Sew - Machine Basics class or equivalent experience

Supplies Provided:

In this workshop we provide a digital copy of pattern. This is a measure and cut pattern,  meaning all pattern pieces are cut using cutting mat, rotary cutter, and ruler.

Need to bring:

You'll get a detailed email a couple of weeks before the workshop letting you know what to bring but you can anticipate that you will need to bring your fabric, thread, bag handle or webbing, (or make your own handle with the fabric you've chosen), and a basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, marking pencil, etc.). We also encourage you to come to the shop ahead of your class to pick out your fabric and thread so that you're ready to go when the class starts.

If you do not have the sewing tools, we have sewing kits you can borrow, or you can purchase most of them in the store.

Cancellations and Refunds

We are capping the class at 6 participants. If we have less than 3
participants, we will cancel the class and refund your full purchase
price. Otherwise, workshops are non-refundable. If you cancel with at
least a week's notice, we will give you a store credit. If you find you
can't make it, with less than one week's notice, you are welcome to send
someone in your place.
