Indian Cotton 2025 - Bagra Organic Hand Printed Cottons - WS 03 - Blue and Red on Cream

Bagra, outside of Jaipur is a centre for traditional block printing in Rajasthan. We found a fantastic studio that uses only organic cotton, naturally sourced dyes, creating hand printed fabrics with carved wooden blocks for some wonderful, unique and very special fabrics. These prints are a small representation of these labour intensive but beautiful traditions that have been passed from generation to generation. 

The Bagra prints, like Kalamkari, are more muted and colours reflect the naturally sourced pigments. Plants give us the blue (indigo), and red (Alizarin from Madder), and the black is from iron filings. 

Important note - Hand printed and dyed fabrics will have irregularities and imperfections. They may also have the odd bit of sand because they are usually created in an open air environment. Please expect these anomalies and appreciate them as a feature of a hand crafted process. 

Spark - Like Kalamkari, the Bagra prints are more muted and will be beautiful in garments, as layering pieces in cooler weather or for a beautiful top or skirt in the spring. 

Please note that all fabric is sold in 1/2 yard increments. If you want 1 yard, please order a quantity of 2. If you want 2 yards, you will need to order a quantity of 4.
