Spiff up your bedroom or sofa with some new, super pretty cushions. In this workshop, you choose one of three decorative finishes for a cushion: a self-covered piped edge, a scalloped edge, or a gathered ruffle edge. We will demonstrate each technique, and you will choose your favorite, and make an 18" cushion in the style of your choice.

Who should take this class - Confident beginners and more experienced sewists who want to learn some new techniques.

What's included - We'll provide a pattern set for the three pillows we're going to learn.  We will provide a single 18" square pillow form for your chosen finished pillow. And we will provide sufficient piping for your sample.

Please plan to bring - You will get a detailed email a couple of weeks before the class but please be prepared to bring

You will be making one full-size cushion. Your teacher will show you three different cushion techniques, and you will practice two of your favorites before starting the final project.
1 metre of fabric for practice samples – muslin or scrap fabric

One of the following, depending on your choice of cushion style:
Cushion Style 1: Gathered ruffle cushion
1.3 m of calico cotton
Cushion Style 2: Scalloped edge cushion
1.2 m calico cotton
Cushion Style 3: Piped in one of two ways
Option 1: Piped edge cushion with self-piping
1.2 m cushion body and piping plus 2.3 m of piping, 3 or 4 mm wide
Option 2: Piped edge cushion with contrasting piping
0.6 m cushion body fabric
0.8 m of piping fabric plus 2.3 m of piping, 3 or 4 mm wide (available at Fabric Spark)

Twine (only necessary if you are gathering canvas or a similar weight fabric for a ruffled finished pillow)

Coordinating thread

NOTE - we are capping the class at 6 participants. If we have less than 3 participants, we will cancel the class and refund your full purchase price. Otherwise, workshops are non-refundable. If you cancel with at least a week's notice, we will give you a store credit. If you find you can't make it, with less than one week's notice, you are welcome to send someone in your place.
