Anna Maria Horner - Fibs and Fables Dressmaker - Flint
For inspiration, AMH started to research the vintage illustrations she remembered from the dramatic and captivating story books of her childhood. She said..."Exploring old German, Danish, British and American illustrations revealed all of the beloved book scenery that I got lost in as a child... What entranced and inspired my color directions was the element of fear and tragedy combined with joyful resolutions. The balance of the two, as well as the good and evil that is such a common theme helped me to cast a moody palette on the fabric's color ways. The prints themselves are a not so literal in telling any specific fib, fable or fairytale, but rather bring to light the elements that exist in so many of our favorite stories."
I love the colour combinations and intensity. It's not a typical palette, even for her. There are the pretty fabrics for sure, but there are also a few bold and beautiful designs that have stayed with me since I first saw them, on paper, many months ago.
Spark - These dramatic images would make interesting and beautiful garments for kids and grown ups, and together they would make a dramatic and stunning quilt. I really like the idea of these combinations in an AMH feather block found here.
