Sewing School is designed to give you increasing levels of sewing know-how. Each class adds new techniques to enhance your skills and give you more confidence. Whether you are a complete beginner, or a skilled quilter who wants to get into garment sewing, the Sewing School classes will help you understand the steps, read and interpret pattern instructions, and give you the tools and confidence to start problem solving on your own. At the end you'll be ready to take on more complex and demanding sewing projects.

Take one or all of the classes. We have each of them on both weekdays or weekends to accommodate your schedule. They're also available for anyone 14 or older so if you have a teen at home who is keen to learn, this is a great opportunity.

Details - The Lined Tote - Our tote is a great size for a book bag or generous purse. It as cloth handles, is fully lined, has an interior pocket and boxed corners for easy packing and finding. You will learn

  • Sewing Machine Overview (threading, tension, bobbin, stitch length)
  • French Seams
  • Boxed Corner
  • Pocket
  • Top Stitching

The workshop fee includes fabric, thread and pattern.

Difficulty - You're just learning to sew. 

Timing - Wednesday June 5 noon to 4:00

Supply List - For this workshop, fabric, thread and pattern are included in the workshop fee. You can choose any in-stock colour of our wonderful Artisan Cotton for the Exterior, and any coordinating or contrasting quilting cotton for the interior.

Note - we are capping the class at 6 participants. If we have less than 3 participants, we will cancel the class and refund your full purchase price. Otherwise, workshops are non-refundable. If you cancel with at least a week's notice, we will give you a store credit. If you find you can't make it, with less than one week's notice, you are welcome to send someone in your place or forfeit the workshop fee. 


 Students must be at least 14 years old.
