Spiff up your bedroom or sofa with some new, super pretty cushions. In this workshop, you will learn three different decorative finishes for cushions: a self-covered piped edge, a scalloped edge, and a gathered ruffle edge. You will learn each technique as you create samples. Once you've chosen your favorite, we will create a final 18" cushion cover.

Who should take this class - Confident beginners and more experienced sewists who want to learn some new techniques. 

Timing - We have a full day workshop option, or two evening sessions, please choose your date.

What's included - We'll provide a pattern set for the three pillows we're going to learn.  We will provide a single 18" square pillow form for your chosen finished pillow. And we will provide sufficient piping for your sample.

Please plan to bring - You will get a detailed email a couple of weeks before the class but please be prepared to bring

1 meter of fabric for samples (muslin or scrap fabric is suitable)
Piping - 2.3 m
Fabric for final cushion
Quantity needed:
  • Gathered ruffle cushion - 1.2 m canvas cotton / 1.3 m calico cotton
  • Scalloped edge cushion - 1.2 m 
  • Piped edge cushion with self-piping - 1.2 m cushion body and piping
  • Piped edge cushion with contrast piping - .6 m cushion body fabric / .8 m piping fabric
Twine (only necessary if you are gathering canvas or a similar weight fabric for a ruffled finished pillow)

NOTE - we are capping the class at 6 participants. If we have less than 3 participants, we will cancel the class and refund your full purchase price. Otherwise, workshops are non-refundable. If you cancel with at least a week's notice, we will give you a store credit. If you find you can't make it, with less than one week's notice, you are welcome to send someone in your place.
