Made By Rae Trillium Dress
Formerly the Washi Dress, Rae has renamed and rereleased this classic and versatile pattern. Her discussion on the decision to rename it is an excellent discussion on cultural appropriation in case you're interested. The new version also has expanded sizes.
The good news is the dress hasn't changed. It's a garment you'll make over and over again. It's flattering, well designed and doesn't require zippers or buttons. Find new ways to make it your own with fabric or styling.
Make it in something bright that makes a nice statement, or a gorgeous woven. Recommended fabrics are light to medium weight cotton or cotton blend fabric such as shirting, voile, double gauze, quilting cotton, poplin, or cotton linen blends. See the pattern chart images for sizing and yardage requirements. You will also need 1 1/4 yard single fold bias tape (prepackaged or make your own 1 1/4" wide strips), elastic thread (for the shirring in the back), and lightweight interfacing.
Note - There is an excellent tutorial on sewing with elastic thread so be sure and look at that before you start sewing. If you need elastic thread, you can order it here.
