April Rhodes - The Staple Dress
Beautiful sewing patterns from April Rhodes.
The staple dress is a great way for someone to start sewing and produce something beautiful that they will wear and enjoy. It's straightforward shape and easy fit means it can be styled and customized any way you want to make it your own look. There are two hem variations, the drop hem (the yellow dress pictured) or the straight hem (the brown dress pictured).
Suggested fabrics are cotton, linen velveteen, voile, rayon, double gauze, or cotton blends with little stretch. For the drop hem version use a light weight textile with drape such as cotton, linen, voile, shot cotton, double gauze, rayon, lightweight knits, silk, or blends.
Fabric Requirements for 45" wide fabric are
2 2/3 yards for xs-m, 3 yards for l-xxl
Note - you will also need elastic thread for this pattern.
From April;
Designed to be simple yet flattering. This dress has a lot of ease through the bust and hip, with elastic shirring at the waist to cinch it in. The waistline can be customized and adjusted up and down to accent the wearer’s natural waist. Choose between two hemlines, a classic straight hem or a more dramatic drop hem style, with optional side-seam pockets. Cute alone or belted, with flats, boots or heels, it’s a year-round wardrobe essential.
