The Fabric Spark Colour Challenge is here

The second pillar of our community that we want to celebrate during our anniversary year is COLOUR!  We thought the best way to translate that into a fun interactive program is to host a Fabric Spark colour challenge. It's open to anyone in our community in Canada and the United States. 

The Colour Challenge

Create a quilt incorporating ALL of the following five Andover Century Solids: Flax, Margarita, Faded, Isle and Gunmetal. Feel free to introduce ANY other colours or fabrics into to the mix or stick to our five, BUT, you have to use all five colours. 

All quilt styles and techniques welcome! There is no minimum size, but the quilt cannot be larger than 60” square. Please see below for a full list of all the rules. 

Entry Requirements

  • Must include all five colours.

  • Must measure less than 60” square.

  • Submission can be a quilt top or finished quilt.

  • Entry must be submitted as a photo to create@fabricpsparkteam.com by May 1, 2025. Submissions need to include the dimensions of the finished work and your mailling address. 

Fabric Bundles

Fabric Spark is providing discounted fat quarter bundles, half-yard bundles, and one-yard bundles in the challenge's Andover Century Solids: 

  1. Flax
  2. Margarita
  3. Faded
  4. Isle 
  5. Gunmetal

PreQuilt for Designing

We have worked with our friends at Pre-Quilt* to make your designing process easier. They have the colours loaded and have made a helpful video so you can play with your design digitally before you start cutting your fabric.

Submission Deadline  

Submissions will be due by May 1. Photos are to be sent to create@fabricpsparkteam.com with “Colour Challenge” in the subject line. 

Voting

A link to a gallery of the photos will be shared in the newsletter where the Fabric Spark community will vote on their favourite entry, (for the purpose of voting, entries will be anonymous).

Prizes

We have a fantastic prize package including fabric, design software, and visibility for your entry. The prize for our audience favourite includes:
  • An ‘Iconic’ fat quarter bundle by Libs Elliot including , 'Glaze II' Charm Pack and Design Roll (prizes generously provided by our wonderful Andover supplier in Canada, J.N. Harper)

  • A PreQuilt Annual Subscription

  • The quilt will hang at the Fabric Spark booth at Quilt Canada in Toronto, June 19-21, 2025.

  • Winning quilt will be published in Fabric Spark newsletter and socials.

For the challenge does the quilt pattern have to be an original design or can you use another designer’s pattern?
