May is About Wellness

For us, May is about wellness through creativity. This can mean different things to different people but there is abundant evidence that sewing is especially good for you. According to Dr. Google, sewing has a long list of benefits:
Mental Health - It relieves stress, improves focus and concentration, give you a dopamine boost and stimulates your brain.
Physical Health - It improves hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, it improves memory and, believe it or not, reduces blood pressure and lowers your heart rate.

And more... But there are also the immeasurable benefits, like being able to express yourself creatively and, hopefully, giving you a social connection to other makers.

We have two fantastic Creative Talents coming to Fabric Spark to speak under our creativeity for wellness theme. Come enjoy a couple of wonderful evenings in the shop. Both will attest to how their craft has served as a necessary refuge in their personal lives, and how it has spilled into the public space for others to participate in, contribute to, explore in, and grow in.
