English Paper Piecing (EPP) The Next Frontier - Thursday March 29th 10:00 AM - 4:00

If you took Karen’s English Paper Piecing Workshop this course is the next step to expand your EPP skills. In this workshop you will learn Karen’s techniques for fussy cutting and “made fabric”. You will then combine both to create fabulous designs quickly and easily. While this workshop will focus on the hexagon shape the skills you learn can be applied to any shape or quilt block.

Timing - Thursday March 29th 10:00 AM - 4:00 (Lunch and snacks will be provided)
This class is the second in a series of skill building classes. It is designed for those who have taken the first class and/or those who have a good understanding of English paper piecing (EPP)

Material Requirements - Basting thread and hand sewing needles for basting and sewing, Sharp scissors, Small flat ruler (a file card or a piece of cardboard will work equally well), Thread to match your fabrics, Sewing machine, Rotary cutter, small matt and a small rotary cutting ruler, Studio Glue Stick (used in the EPP Workshop)

Fabric Requirements:
You will be learning new techniques and methods so don’t stress about the fabric. Once you’ve learned the techniques you can cut into the treasured fabrics!

For the workshop, Karen recommends one or two fabrics for fussy cutting. Medium scale prints with a good variety of colours, shapes and designs work well (e.g. paisley, floral and Jacobean prints).
Please also bring 3 or more fat quarters that are subtle prints or tone-on-tone prints. Make sure that you have good contrast so bring along dark, medium and light colours that work with the fussy cutting fabric.
You can also bring directional prints such as stripes, wavy prints and/or zigzag prints. These are fun and especially easy to work with. If you have a bag of scrap strips or jelly rolls these can be fun to work with so you could also bring them along! Strips as small as 1” can be used.
