A four week series of weekly sewing classes (Thursdays 6:30 - 9:00) designed for the beginner sewist. Focussing on one project each week, you'll create some fun and useful projects that are perfect for your kids (and one for you!)
Week 1 - The pencil case / zipper pouch
You'll learn how to sew a zipper, and a french seam
Week 2 - Apron
You'll learn how to use facing, and sew simple straps and pockets and the pattern will include multiple sizes
Week 3 - Blanket
You'll learn mitred corners, how to hand tie a quilt, sewing with different fabrics (flannel is an option)
Week 4 - Tote bag
You'll learn how to sew and attach straps, box corners, different types of interfacing and stabilizers and how to insert a lining.

. An expert at sewing for kids, Sherri has created numerous tutorials and original patterns including The Fat Quarter Skirt, and numerous Quiet Books. She has been a featured speaker at Creativ Festivals, is a Janome Artisan currently working with Janome Canada, and she writes for the Craftsy Sewing blog.

Suggested Experience - This course is designed for sewists who know the basic operation of their machine but have limited sewing experience.
Skills you'll develop - You'll learn about choosing fabrics, you'll learn new techniques including putting in a zipper, making straps and pockets, mitred corners, gusset corners, and more.
Materials Required - Bring your own sewing machine. A complete list of requirements will be provided for each project. Patterns are included in the course.
